John Finnie reminds us of his views

SNP reversed its 30 year opposition to NATO and approved membership - with conditions

John Finnie, Highlands and Islands MSP, spoke against the change in the SNP policy on NATO membership in yesterday’s debate at its conference in Perth.

He said: “You vote to join Nato, you will not get rid of Trident.”  “You vote to join Nato and there will be pressure ... not to be involved in CND, not to support the Palestinians and similar causes around the globe.”

Apparently these are so important in Mr Finne’s mind that they should be weighed heavily against the prospect of gaining the SNP’s prize of separation from the UK.  One wonders if this is therefore the reason for being separate from the UK - to rid Scotland of its nuclear defence and to support the Palestinians.

Thus the SNP conference reminded us that SNP so-called Independence comes with a price.  That price is:

1. uncertainty about the Christian constitution of Scotland.
2. certainty about the SNP desire to make Scotland a nuclear-free zone constitutionally.
3. support of CND and Palestinian causes.

Other Highlands and Islands MSPs who supported the defeated motion were Jean Urquhart MSP and Dave Thompson MSP.
